Conspiracy theories are a dime a dozen. And as our world continues to get crazier by the minute, so do the conspiracies. Conspiracies are not hard to come up with. Lord knows, most conspiracy theorists have never been bothered by the fact that there was little or no evidence to support their claims. All that is needed is a few people who are convinced that a particular government (usually ours) is out to get them, a common interest in the conspiracy du-jour, and a means of setting the conspiracy a float. The internet has proven to be a very powerful aide in what was once somewhat challenging. Not any more! A quick Google search will pop out conspiracies like popcorn at a movie theater.
Anything from aliens being hid in the Nevada dessert, to the one which believes that the Moon landing actually took place on a movie lot in Los Angeles can be found. And, do not forget about the one that says the Holocaust never really occurred or the one that believes that the Aids epidemic was put in place by whom else but God himself. Alrighty, then!! But, most conspiracies are always surrounding someone who has been killed and why the government did it and how they lied to cover it up; anybody from Abe Lincoln to J.R. to Elvis. But the king of all conspiracies, as to a person’s death, is the one about who really killed John F. Kennedy. I have heard about the “figure on the knoll” since I was in the second grade. The conspiracy theorists on this one believe that someone killed JFK, but it was not Lee Harvey Oswald. But if he did, he could not have acted alone. It must have been the U.S.Government, or maybe it was Cuba, or it could have been the CIA or how about Lyndon Johnson? It had to be somebody and these folks are sick and tired of not getting an answer. Okay, here it is. Lee Harvey Oswald killed Kennedy. No one else, no conspiracies, no help, he did it all by himself.
This will not bode well with those who are non believers of what law enforcement has been trying to tell them since the shooting took place but they did not want to hear it. Never mind that law enforcement agencies who investigated the shooting are trained to determine the cause of events such as this, they wanted answers. Finally there is a book out that does just that.
Vincent Bugliosi, you know him as the prosecutor in the “Helter Skelter” trial, has published a book called Reclaiming History. In his book, he systematically breaks down every conspiracy and basically proves them to be rubbish. And in the end, he names JFK’s killer. Guess who? Here is a hint. He was an employee at a book depository in the vicinity of the shooting. Furthermore, in an interview with US News & World Report (June 11, 2007), Bugliosi claims that the murder was solved shortly after it occurred. The conspiracies have continued but the outcome has not. If you are one of those who still have doubts, you owe it to yourself to read this book. Be prepared for a long sit; the book is nearly 2000 pages. This could be problematic to conspirators. Remember real evidence has never interested them much, especially a written document the size of a phonebook.
Maybe this will, however, convince them to move on to more important things. Like, don’t you think that is odd that we have never seen Hillary Clinton and Truman Capote in the same place? Just a coincidence….maybe, maybe not. I don’t know, I’m just saying.
Happy Reading, but be careful on the way to the bookstore, you never know who is watching. Do you really expect us to believe that you are really going to the bookstore to actually buy a book? Yeah………..riiiiiiight!!!
