This area is part of the Evermore CID (Community Improvement District) and more specifically what will be called the Park Place Activity Center. The CID has plans to drastically improve this area and are talking with Target to get them to stay. Check out the website www.evermorecid.com.

The skate park is one thing to blame on that. But the park isn't doing what they need to do. They have security cameras in the concession stand that aren't being use. They could at least put one on top of the depot, that will cover a lot of the parking lot up there. The police are a little to blame. They've caught the suspects (or at least some of them), released them for a day, and then they catch them again a week later, or see them at the skate park.

No, it is not the skate parks fault, nor is it the fault of the police. The blame for the deterioration and crime in the area rests squarely on the shoulders of the crap people and their crap kids that commit the crimes.

Well I frequent the businesses in Mountain Park daily and I still feel safe. I am very aware of my surrounding and this would be anywhere I go. I worked in downtown on Mitchell Street for years and had the same feeling. I refuse to let the scumbags out there take away my freedom to go where I want to go.

I never think of Mountain Park as unsafe for anything other than window glass. All in all, the area is a nice place to live.

Hwy 78 is the new Memorial Drive. GCPD needs to seriously crack some heads, this area has always been undermanned by GCPD in my opinion.

That is true. And it's not that far from the southside precinct.

Its really getting to be bad areas all over the County. With limited officers to go out there and work, it makes it more difficult.
