I was driving around garage saleing today when I came upon an enormous amount of police activity somewhere in the 1400 block of Azalea rd real close to the intersection of azalea and Sr 124, there were at least a half dozen marked units several unmarked units, a huge truck and a baco digging stuff up???? strange???......I just wanted to see if anyone had the scoop! Want to see what kind of crime s happening in our community.. : ) hope every1 is having a great weekend, thanks in advance! Keep Safe and God Bless.

Not sure what is going on. We live with our backyard backed up to houses on Azalea. About 20 minutes ago, there was a very low flying helicopter circling around over and over for a while.

I live across the street from whatever is happening, it is nerve wracking not knowing what is going on at my neighbors. To be quite honest, seeing the certain vehicles there and the duration of how long they have been there, I nervous to hear the news....

I'm a neighbor and there was no crime involved here. The home owner and his children were out walking on their property, which consists of several acres, and found something suspicious on the edge of the property. The police came out to investigate. The backhoe is there because he's putting in a pool. I heard the helicopter also, but it seems there was no connection to this incident.

No, not a suspicious package. They found human remains. I found the story in the Gwinnett Patch. It will probably be reported by other news media soon. The police are investigating this as a suspicious death. The remains are believed to be those of a 16 to 30 year old black female who was wearing a tee shirt that has the date of 2008 on it. The police are asking anyone with info to contact them at 770-513-5300. So when I said no crime was involved guess I should have said no recent crime.

Her shirt was from an event in 2008, but they don't say how recent the crime was. She could have been wearing an old shirt. Ick.

That's true, but since there were only skeletal remains they must not have been put there too recently. A Fox News 5 helicopter was circling overhead a few hours ago so knew there would be a story on that TV station. Tuned in and there was a brief story about it on Channel 5.

Wonder why all the news stations are reporting this happened on Sunday. We all saw this activity Saturday. Was there something else on Saturday that we are all talking about that is different?

I heard at least one news report that got the day correct. It was Saturday not Sunday. The Gwinnett Daily Post also reported that it happened on Sunday, but we know that is incorrect. On Monday, Aug. 6, they quoted Cpl. Jake Smith with the Gwinnett Police Dept. as saying the body is estimated to have been there for a least a few months, but less than a year.
