If a cop in the HOT lane comes up behind you with their flashing blues, (assuming they're not after you) in order to get out of their way is it legal to pull out of the HOT lane across the double line then pull back in once they've passed? Or should you wait until there's a marked HOT lane exit to get out of their way?

Just drive the speed limit and stay in the lane. They aren't in a hurry.

Seriously. Get the ef out of the way.

Always pull over to the RIGHT.

Heck no....

You paid for the lane in the first place with your tax dollars.
You pay to play in the lane.

Let the popo use the free lanes and inconvenience all of those who are too cheap to save themselves time! Very Happy No, what street said, use your signal to let them know you are moving over and get out of their way. Then get right back into the lane and let them clear traffic for you~! I've had to move out for accidents in the peach lane and I just get right back in....so far no tickets or fines.

Now if we could just convince people in the peach pass lane that 50 mph is rude....we'd have something. Nothing like staring through the person's windshield in front of you to see an empty lane as far as the eye can see. People need to figure out that the police aren't clocking you, just ensuring you are paying your toll ! Pedal to the metal PEOPLE! Very Happy

My wife asked me the question regarding getting back into the HOT lane after moving over for the cops, just wanted to get a po-lice opinion.
I hear ya New, can't tell you how many times I've been in the HOT lane with someone in front of the pack with an out-of-state tag doing 50 and a half mile of space in front of them...and they never seem to get caught by the HOT lane Po-Pos!

The out of staters seem to be the ones who bust out right in front of you from a dead stop...I've almost seen some awful accidents from people sittiing still in the right hand lanes who cross the double white from a stop right in front of a vehicle going 70!

I'm convinced that you can drive as fast as you want to in the peach pass lane. The officers sitting on the right side are only looking for non-paying drivers.

Having said that I looked up today going south and there was a police behind me. I was going somewhere north of 70 and was sure I would be getting my first ticket in my life. I finally got over at the end of the peach pass lane and it was some kind of Federal SUV cop. I forget the name of the organization but I didn't recognize it.

Maybe it was it one of those 16,000 new Federal Healthcare IRS Enforcement Agents we're supposed to be getting. They can look up my a** and make sure I have my policy. Hey, it's for our own good, you know.

The fine and trustworthy folks at SRTA tell you that their high dollar equipment will record when people get on/off at the solid lines and will send the offender a fine in the mail by taking a picture of the license plate.

I work with someone who says she crosses the solid lines every day and has yet to get a ticket. I see at least 5 cars per day crossing the solid lines to enter/exit the HOT lanes. I doubt they are getting tickets either. Plus, yesterday I noticed some of the cameras were missing so not sure how they can take a picture of a tag with a missing camera.
