2 weeks ago I get hit when a fellow in lane to my left decides to move into my lane, having not seen me. (dwntown Lville) We chat while waiting for cop to arrive. He admits it was his fault and assures me he has insurance. Hard hit caused damage from front to rear on drivers side of my vehicle and although driveable, my door now leaks air & rain. Cop arrives, hears same story from both drivers, takes my license & insurance info & dismisses me to leave, as he and other driver go to his squadcar to finish up paperwork. Accident report shows insurance info for both vehicles and citation went to fellow that hit me. Turns out he had no insurance on the day of our accident and when I go to City Hall/Municipal Court to verify the citation noted on the accident rpt. included this offence, I am told he only got a warning citation...and the info noted next to his citation, 40-6-48, is the "Code". (Warned for what, I do not know!) The officer didn't confirm the vehicle was insured and the offending driver got no ticket for that or for improper lane change that caused the wreck! This is crazy...If I contact the officer for an explanation, is the error changeable if he agrees it is wrong? I know if my car gets fixed, I will have to use my uninsured motorists insurance and I expect the renewal will show my rate has increased.....Is there anybody reading this that might help guide me?

Yes. You need to come in and speak to the officer. If you get no satisfaction for him/her then you need to speak to that officer's immediate supervisor. _________________ Don't let your Battleship Mouth fire off something that your Rowboat Ass can't cover!!
OCGA 40-6-48 (IIRC) is Failure to Maintain Lane. Was he given a citation for this?
Have you spoke to his insurance company? Have you verified he did not have insurance coverage on that day? _________________ People with courage and character always seem sinister to the rest. -Hermann Hesse
