(Friday 11/10/06 @ approximately 11:30PM) Investigators with the Accident Investigation Unit of the Gwinnett County Police Department are investigating a motor vehicle fatality that occurred on Bart Johnson Road near Ridge Road which is in the Buford area of Gwinnett County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a single vehicle occupied by six (6) teenagers were traveling on Bart Johnson Road when it lost control and ran off the roadway striking a tree. None of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other five occupants were transported to various hospitals where they are expected to survive their injuries.

The vehicle was a ’94 Oldsmobile. The driver has been identified as 18-year-old Justin Curtas of Dacula. At this time, speed appears to be the main contributing factor. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
