 | Home Invasion Suspect Captured by Police |
(Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 @ approximately 10:33 AM) Officers with the Lilburn Police Department responded to a report of a Home Invasion in-progress in the 4900 block of Jackson’s Mill Drive. Officers arrived on-scene within minutes of the initial call and established a perimeter in the immediate area. Officers were able to contain the suspect until Gwinnett County Sheriff Department’s K-9 Unit could arrive on-scene.
Ultimately, officers were able to locate the suspect, with the assistance of the K-9 unit, in a yard at a nearby residence. The suspect sustained minor injuries, as a result of being bitten by the K-9 during the apprehension, and was subsequently evaluated by medical personnel. The suspect is an adult, and is currently in custody and facing several charges related to the case.
The victim in this case sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local, area hospital where she is in good condition.
The suspect in this case has been identified as 18 year-old Rodericus Eugene Jackson of Buford, Georgia. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary with intent to commit a felony, false imprisonment, cruelty to children in the 1st degree, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

 | Wal-Mart employee wounded in shooting |
Lilburn police Friday were investigating a mysterious early-morning shooting behind a Gwinnett County Wal-Mart that left a store employee wounded.
Two employees had gone out a back door of the Wal-Mart at 4004 Lawrenceville Highway about 2:30 a.m. to get propane tanks for a fork lift when they heard a "whoosh" sound, Lilburn police spokesman Matthew Lake said.
"Not a bang, not a pop, kind of a loud air-escaping noise," Lake said.

 | 4 victims in human trafficking case flee U.S. |
Four of the eight human trafficking victims brought from India to Gwinnett County to perform in a nightclub have left the country, police said Wednesday.
Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said he is looking into whether the victims were coerced to leave to stifle the prosecution of the club operators.
"The allegations are that it was perfomed by an agent of the defendants and initiated by one of their attorneys," Porter said.

 | Fifth man charged in exotic dancer trafficking case |
Lilburn police on Friday charged a fifth man in connection with a human trafficking case involving exotic dancers and band members from India who were allegedly paid slave wages to perform at a Gwinnett County club.
Victor Varaghese, 29, of Lilburn, is wanted on eight counts of human trafficking.
A probable cause hearing in Gwinnett County Magistrate Court for the other co-defendants in the case had been scheduled for Friday, but it is reset for Wednesday. The co-defendants are Shifiqat Muhammad Ali, 26, of Birmingham; Lilburn residents Vijay Kamal Bannerjee, 26, and Govino K Vishwa, 42; and Farrukh Khan of Hoover, Ala., whose age was not listed.

 | Human Trafficking |
On January 10, 2009, Lilburn Police Officers, along with Gwinnett County Officers responded to a residence in Lilburn to investigate a reported fight. Upon arrival at the house officers discovered the residence was being used to detain and traffick female and male immigrants from India.
Officers on the scene learned that a man had climbed through a window to see a female acquaintance that lived inside the house. Once inside the man was discovered by one of the men guarding the house. A physical altercation ensued.
In the subsequent investigation, officers looking into the disturbance found that six women and two men were being held in locked rooms in the home and were not permitted to leave the house without being accompanied by one of the house guards. The women were performing as exotic dancers at the Mehtil Bar, Grill, & Entertainment in Norcross. The womens’ passports, money, and return airline tickets were held by those men overseeing them.
Lilburn police have arrested four men on eighteen counts of human trafficking each. Lilburn Police, in cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Lilburn City Zoning Enforcement are continuing to investigate.

 | Burglary Committed While Employees Open McDonalds |
At approximately 5:07 am on September 22, 2008, a black male wearing blue jean shorts, black shirt, and a grey hat entered an open drive through window of the McDonalds (located at 4133 Lawrenceville Hwy [Hwy 29]). After entering through the drive through window, the burglar went to the back of the store where it was determined at a later time that he had opened a locked safe, took $300.00, and then exited the right of the building and was last seen running North on Lawrenceville Hwy (Hwy 29). None of the three employees that were in the store at the time of the burglary were hurt or threatened by the burglar. Video footage of the suspect will be provided when McDonalds’ managers are able to turn it over to the Lilburn Police Department.

 | Officer Involved Shooting |
At approximately 3:53 pm August 13, 2008, Lilburn Police Department received a look-out advisory for a suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was involved in a shooting in Gwinnett County. Gwinnett County Officers advised Lilburn Officers that they had located the vehicle driving in Lilburn. Lilburn Officers and Gwinnett Officer attempted to pull over the vehicle that matched the description and tag in the parking lot at the corner of Hwy 29 (Lawrenceville Hwy) and Indian Trail. The suspect pulled his vehicle over and appeared to comply with the officer’s demands. The suspect put his hands out of the driver’s side window and brought his car to a stop. Then unexpectedly the suspect put his hands back into his vehicle and attempted to drive away. While fleeing at a high rate of speed the suspect aimed his vehicle at an officer who was outside of her vehicle. The officer, knowing that her life was endangered, was forced to fire one shot at the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect then avoided the officer and drove his vehicle back on to Hwy 29 (Lawrenceville Hwy) and was chased by the Gwinnett County Police Department until he was arrested in Gwinnett County’s jurisdiction. The Lilburn Officer was not hurt.

 | False story to cover tryst lands Lilburn woman in jail |
A Lilburn woman was in jail Tuesday for allegedly lying to police to cover up a tryst with her lover after the pair was discovered by her husband.
The husband of Paula Del Carmen Flores-Aulis, 40, apparently interrupted a private moment between his wife and another man when he walked into the bedroom about 7 a.m. Monday, according to Lilburn police detective Kim Banks.
Upon sighting the husband, the lover jumped out of a bedroom window. Flores-Aulis claimed that the man broke into the home and tried to sexually assault her, Banks said.

 | Pedestrian Fatality/Hit and Run in the City of Lilburn |
On August 5, 2008 at approximately 10:30 pm, a pedestrian attempted to cross Lawrenceville Hwy (Hwy 29) and was struck by a motorist.
The pedestrian attempted to cross the five-lane road just south of the intersection of Beaver Ruin Road. Witnesses stated that a brown Nissan Altima attempted to stop but was unable to do so before striking the victim and throwing him several yards in the air. The unknown Offender then exited his vehicle and approached the victim who was lying lifeless on the side of the road. The Offender then return to his vehicle and left without rending aid to the victim or awaiting for the arrival of emergency personal.
The Offender is described as an Asian Male approximately five feet tall, black hair, mustache, and possible having additional facial hair. The Offender and his vehicle were last seen going north on Lawrenceville Hwy (Hwy 29) towards the City of Lawrenceville. Emergency personal responded and the Gwinnett County’s Accident Investigation Unit completed an Accident Report and Vehicular Homicide Investigation. The victim was pronounced dead at the incident location. Police are on the lookout for a five-foot Asian male driving a brown Nissan Altima with front-end damage. The Lilburn Police Department and the Gwinnett County’s Accident Investigation Unit are asking for anyone with information related to this investigation call the Lilburn Police Department at (770) 921-2211.

 | Police seek driver who killed pedestrian |
Lilburn police are looking for a driver who fled after hitting and killing a pedestrian, according to TV news reports.
According to witnesses' reports to police, the man got out of the car after the accident, looked at the victim and drove away.
The accident took place at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of Beaver Ruin Road and Lawrenceville Highway. The victim was a 35-year-old man who was attempting to cross the street with his girlfriend.
